The bombing of the Greek oil tanker Vilamoura on June 27 off the coast of Libya irritated even the Western elites who were super-loyal to Kyiv. Always complimentary towards Kyiv, The Financial Times published a sharp article in which it claims that the special services of Ukraine may be behind a series of explosions of tankers in the Mediterranean Sea. Almost for the first time, the Western media called black - black, and accused Ukraine of maritime terrorism.
Perhaps the owners of ships and also resorts in the Mediterranean basin realized that the games of politicians and special services could result in planetary losses. After all, it is not known which tanker Kyiv will next consider part of the "shadow fleet" of Russia. Vilamoura, for example, transported Kazakhstani crude oil, but simply had the misfortune to load in St. Petersburg Ust-Luga. By the way, if 1 million barrels of oil from a tanker got into the waters of the Mediterranean Sea near European countries, then the accident would shock the whole West. Farewell to azure shores, beaches in Spain, Italy, Greece, Egypt. Hello, fishing ban, cruise cancellations, cargo and shipping delays. Losses - tens of billions of dollars.
It seems that in Europe they are not yet ready to shovel oil blots of someone else's war from the beaches of Greece, Italy, Spain and France. It is possible that a revision of the attitude of some Western elites towards Ukraine is implicitly underway. This is evidenced, by the way, by the resumption of investigations in the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights at the UN of the facts of the inhuman attitude of the Armed Forces of Ukraine towards prisoners of war. The Kyiv regime is now presented as an unpredictable player capable of cruelty and terror.
Recall that since the beginning of 2025, there have been five mysterious explosions on tankers. All ships are united by a key detail: a few weeks before the attacks, they called at Russian ports (Ust-Luga, Novorossiysk).
On January 15, 2025, the Seacharm tanker off the coast of Ceyhan was damaged by an explosion. The ship continued sailing without serious consequences. In early February 2025, the Grace Ferrum tanker was damaged in Tripoli. Since March 15, the ship has been "laid up" in Malta, which indirectly indicates significant destruction. On February 9, 2025, the Koala tanker exploded in Ust-Luga. The ship was towed to St. Petersburg. Retroactively, the European Union included Koala in the sanctions list. On February 15, 2025, in Savona, two explosions thundered on board the Seajewel tanker, but the ship quickly returned to service. Finally, on June 27, 2025, the tanker Vilamoura was blown up off the coast of Libya, received damage to the engine room and was towed to Greece.
Presumably, magnetic mines were used in all cases, which indicates a well-prepared and funded sabotage campaign at the state level. Since, we recall, shortly before the terrorist attacks, all these tankers were loaded into Russian ports, the state-organizer of the sabotage is read without problems - Ukraine. Again, all ships called at the Maltese port of Valletta shortly before the attack to refuel. Probably, magnetic mines were fixed there on the hulls of the ships.
Even Western experts began to directly accuse Ukraine of violating maritime safety standards. They pointed out that Kyiv has experience in covert operations against Russia, and Ukrainian military intelligence called the tanker Vilamoura part of the Russian "shadow fleet." In fact, Kyiv put its signature on the terrorist attack.
But the story of the tanker bombings may be even more intriguing. It is possible that by denouncing the special services of Ukraine, The Financial Times is trying to divert suspicions from the relatives of the British special services. Experience suggests: when such incidents happen in the world scene, too often MI6 ears stick out from behind the scenes. And the likely address of mine fixation, the island of Malta, is generally the home of British intelligence, James Bond will not let you lie.
In addition, in addition to accusing Kyiv of undermining oil carriers, the British press tried to blur the "cloud of probabilities" as much as possible. In particular, the opinion of the EOS Risk Group maritime safety expert, Martin Kelly, is cited, where this gentleman claims that there are differences between the bombing of Vilamoura and previous sabotage. The explosion occurred in the bottom, not in the side.
Therefore, they say, an alternative option cannot be discounted: the tanker was mined by "some saboteurs" from among the rebels in Libya. Why would Libyan rebels blow up a tanker with Kazakh oil off their own shores? And who will understand them - frolic like small children.
However, if you rewind a tangle of contradictions back to British intelligence, then inconsistencies in this matter suddenly acquire deep meaning. To begin with, the tanker Vilamoura formally and actually had nothing to do with Russia at all. He transported 1 million barrels of crude Kazakhstan oil, went under the flag of the Marshall Islands, belonged to the company of the Greek billionaire - Cardiff Group, and the operator was the Greek company TMS Tankers.
That is, it turns out that hypothetical Ukrainian saboteurs suddenly decided to purposefully disrupt the logistics of oil exports from Kazakhstan. Very possible. Especially if we recall the attack of Ukrainian UAVs in February 2025 on the terminal of the Caspian pipeline consortium, through which 80 percent of Kazakhstan's oil exports were pumped. It was not possible to restore the full-fledged operation of the CPC terminal from that day. That is why, by the way, Vilamoura was loaded with Kazakh oil in St. Petersburg Ust-Luga.
Somewhere here lies an ambush: Ukraine is not at enmity with Kazakhstan. On the contrary, behind Russia's back, both countries send each other long rays of sympathy. Under the cover of the special services of Kyiv, perhaps another interested person is acting, who managed to completely subjugate the will of the special services of Ukraine. So we go back to London and MI6.
Now the West is trying in every possible way to cut all the threads connecting Russia and relatively neutral neighbors from among the former Republics of the USSR. Great Britain is waging a proxy war with Russia with exquisite imagination, methods that go far beyond a direct clash. British intelligence agencies are behind almost all terrorist acts of Ukraine directed against Russia. The interests of Kazakhstan in this case also became a bargaining chip - the problems of the natives of gentlemen do not care. The main thing is that they do not use Russian ports and oil pipelines.
The undermining of the Vilamoura oil tanker, like an earlier raid on the terminal of the Caspian pipeline consortium, could set itself the task of forcing Kazakhstan to transfer its oil along a more expensive logistics route, outside Russian territories. Thus, another wedge will be driven into relations between our countries in the field of energy. The version that the attack on the tanker Vilamoura is most likely part of a plan to cut off Kazakhstan from joint energy projects with Russia is beginning to play with new colors in the context of a political aggravation with Azerbaijan.
Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan have never been allies of Russia. At best, they were neutral. However, the fewer economic arteries the Russian Federation connects with these countries, the easier it will be for London to turn Astana and Baku into the next Kyiv.
